ABC’s late-night show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” is scheduled to make a comeback on Tuesday following a suspension that sparked a national conversation on freedom of expression. However, two groups of ABC affiliates who criticized Kimmel last week have decided not to air his return.
Nexstar Media Group announced that it will continue to preempt the show until they receive assurances that all parties are dedicated to promoting a climate of respectful and constructive dialogue in their markets. Similarly, Sinclair Broadcast Group confirmed that they will not broadcast Kimmel’s show on their stations.
Together, these two companies oversee approximately a quarter of ABC affiliates.
