Fredericton authorities have announced the arrest and charging of an individual in relation to the tragic passing of Sonia Timbre, a member of the Acho Dene Koe First Nation. Timbre held the position of lands and environmental stewardship manager within the First Nation. The news of her demise was shared by the Acho Dene Koe First Nation through a Facebook post on Monday.
According to the First Nation’s statement, Timbre passed away on September 7, and a memorial in her honor took place in Fort Liard on September 20. The Fredericton Police Force has formally charged the individual with second-degree murder.
In an official announcement on Wednesday, the Fredericton police reported that they responded to a downtown residence where Timbre was discovered deceased. The accused individual was also present at the scene and subsequently transported to the hospital.
