“Ford’s 2025 Sales Surge on Hybrid Vehicles and Pickup Trucks”

Must read

Ford announced that its U.S. auto sales for 2025 have increased, driven by strong demand for hybrid models and affordable pickup trucks. The company’s annual sales grew by six percent to 2,204,124 vehicles compared to the previous year. Additionally, Ford’s fourth-quarter sales rose by 2.7 percent.

This marks Ford’s best annual sales performance since 2019. The positive sales report follows similar announcements from other automakers like Toyota, Hyundai, and General Motors, who also experienced higher annual sales despite challenges in the industry, such as tariffs and the elimination of a $7,500 U.S. electric-vehicle tax credit.

Ford highlighted that consumers turned to the base models of vehicles to combat the industry’s high prices. The company saw a significant increase in sales for its hybrid vehicles, up nearly 22 percent to 228,072 units, and its compact Maverick truck, which saw an 18 percent rise to 155,051 units.

Andrew Frick, head of Ford’s gas and electric-vehicle operations, mentioned that the strong performance of the Maverick truck played a crucial role in addressing affordability in the market. The F-series truck also had a successful year with 828,832 sales, marking an 8.3 percent increase, while the Ford Pro Transit van achieved record sales for the year.

In response to market dynamics, Ford announced plans to replace the all-electric F-150 Lightning with a model utilizing a gas engine to recharge the battery. The company also decided to discontinue the next-generation electric truck, T3, and electric commercial vans as part of its strategic realignment.

Overall, Ford’s sales performance in 2025 reflects a positive trend for the company amidst changing market conditions and consumer preferences.
