A 23-year-old individual has been taken into custody following a report from a father that his four-year-old daughter was sexually assaulted in a park in Gatineau, Quebec, as per authorities. The father reached out to the police at around 4 p.m. on Saturday after observing the alleged inappropriate behavior by the suspect towards his daughter at Pierre-Lafontaine Park, informed Radio-Canada. Upon realizing the situation, the suspect pushed the girl aside to flee when the father hurried towards them, reported the police. A police officer witnessed the incident and quickly gathered details from the father before pursuing the suspect, mentioned Jean-François Beauchamp, a spokesperson for Gatineau police, in French. The arrested individual faces charges of assault and sexual assault, currently being held in custody while the investigation progresses, confirmed the police. Beauchamp expressed gratitude towards the father for promptly intervening, emphasizing the positive collaboration between the police and the public.
