“Heated Rivalry Star Turns Author: Hudson Williams Ventures Into Storytelling”

Must read

After rising to fame in a fairytale-like manner, Hudson Williams has ventured into storytelling. The 24-year-old actor from Vancouver gained recognition last November for his role as hockey star Shane Hollander in the hit series “Heated Rivalry.” The Crave Original show has become the most successful program on the streaming platform, even catching the attention of Prime Minister Mark Carney, who met with the Canadian lead and director at the Prime Time 2026 gala in January.

In a recent conversation with co-star Sophie Nélisse on Wonderland, Williams disclosed his writing endeavors, mentioning that he is currently working on a book. He shared that writing and journaling help him stay grounded. Williams revealed, “I’ve been writing a lot. I have two separate journals. One is a semi-autobiographical manuscript about this phase in my life where I blend fiction and reality.”

Inspired by author Joan Didion, known for works like “The Year of Magical Thinking” and “Play It As It Lays,” Williams expressed his admiration for journaling. He mentioned maintaining a Google document to capture his thoughts and feelings during downtime in hotel rooms between engagements. Williams shared his fondness for the literary genre dubbed “hot girl read,” citing his enjoyment of “Sex and Rage” by Eve Babitz.

Before his breakthrough in “Heated Rivalry,” Williams often shared his current reading choices online, ranging from Anne de Marcken’s novel “It Lasts Forever and Then It’s Over” to DC Comics’ “Nightwing.” In the Wonderland interview, Williams emphasized his strong connection to reading and writing at home, stating, “In Vancouver, I read books, watch movies. I feel plugged into my inspiration. I can absorb art before I have to expend it.”

While the possibility of Williams’s debut novel hitting the shelves remains uncertain, literary agent Samantha Haywood anticipates high interest from publishers. Haywood mentioned in correspondence with CBC Books that publishers would be eager to secure rights to a semi-autobiographical novel by the star of the globally renowned “Heated Rivalry.” She added that if the novel includes elements of spicy romance, publishers would be highly interested.

CBC Books reached out to Williams and his team for comment but has not yet received a response.
