Stellantis announced a global recall of over 1.3 million Jeep SUVs and trucks due to fire risks, advising owners to park them away from structures or other vehicles until the issue is resolved. The recall affects Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator models from 2021-2025, addressing an electrical connection problem in the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring that could lead to overheating of combustible materials and potential vehicle fires.
The recall impacts approximately 1.08 million vehicles in the US, 106,000 in Canada, 23,000 in Mexico, and around 125,000 in other international markets. Stellantis plans to inspect and, if necessary, repair or replace the wiring harness or electric hydraulic power steering pump as part of the recall. The company aims to expedite the remedy process and expects to have a fix available no later than July, as it works to address the issue promptly.
While Stellantis acknowledged one reported injury associated with the problem, there have been no accidents or fatalities linked to the issue.
