Canadian tennis player Félix Auger-Aliassime has decided to withdraw from the Moselle Open this week due to a knee injury, prioritizing his health over a potential spot in the prestigious ATP Finals. The 25-year-old athlete, hailing from Montreal, made the announcement as the ATP 250 event in Metz, France, commenced.
Auger-Aliassime’s withdrawal follows his recent intense performance at the Paris Masters, where he reached the final but ultimately lost to the current world No. 1, Jannik Sinner, in a closely contested match. Despite battling through challenging matches and competing in numerous tiebreakers, Auger-Aliassime’s ranking rose to No. 8 in the ATP standings, surpassing Lorenzo Musetti of Italy in the race for an ATP Finals singles berth.
Meanwhile, Musetti is currently participating in the Hellenic Championship in Athens and must secure a victory in the tournament to regain the ATP Finals spot from Auger-Aliassime. With an impressive record of 48 wins and 22 losses, including three titles this year, Auger-Aliassime has returned to the top eight rankings for the first time since April 10, 2023.
