Toronto Blue Jays leadoff batter George Springer has been honored with a Silver Slugger award following an impressive season resurgence. Springer clinched the award in the designated hitter category and also received a nomination as an outfielder.
The 36-year-old American athlete showcased his prowess by hitting 32 home runs and driving in 84 runs while maintaining a stellar .309 batting average and an impressive .959 on-base-plus-slugging percentage, which ranked him second in the American League. This season marked a significant comeback for Springer after a lackluster performance in 2024 when he hit a career-low .220 with only 19 home runs.
A seasoned player with four All-Star appearances and a World Series MVP title in 2017, Springer had previously secured Silver Slugger awards during his tenure with the Houston Astros in 2017 and 2019. Notably, he sealed his latest achievement with a three-run homer in Game 7 of the AL Championship Series, propelling the Blue Jays to the highly anticipated World Series, where they ultimately fell short in a thrilling seven-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
