AFC Toronto secured a victory in their final game of the inaugural regular season of the Northern Super League by defeating Montreal Roses 2-1. The match saw Alexandria Hess of Montreal scoring first in the 10th minute, taking advantage of Toronto’s goalkeeper Sierra Cota-Yarde being out of position. Toronto equalized in the 42nd minute as Lauren Rowe’s cross found Sarah Stratigakis, who calmly slotted the ball into the net from close range. The winning goal came in the 86th minute from Nikayla Small at York Lions Stadium.

Both teams are set to face each other again in the upcoming NSL playoffs, commencing on November 1. Toronto, with a record of 16-6-3, clinched the top spot in the league standings, earning the Supporters’ Shield, while Montreal, with a record of 10-9-6, finished in fourth place.
