Montreal native Felix Auger-Aliassime clinched the European Open title in Belgium on Sunday, securing his eighth career victory. The 25-year-old Canadian triumphed over Jiri Lehecka from the Czech Republic with a score of 7-6(2), 6-6(7), 6-2 in the ATP 250 tournament held on the hard courts in Brussels.

Auger-Aliassime, seeded second in the competition, showcased his prowess by serving 17 aces during the intense two-hour and 34-minute match, winning an impressive 79% of his first-serve points. Despite losing the second set, he maintained control, converting two out of six break-point opportunities and denying Lehecka any chances to break his serve.

Reflecting on his victory, Auger-Aliassime expressed satisfaction with the high level of play exhibited by both players throughout the match. This win marks his third title of the year, following his earlier triumphs in Montpellier, France, and Adelaide, Australia at the beginning of 2025. With this latest achievement, Auger-Aliassime now shares the record for the most singles titles among Canadian male players in the Open era, tying with Milos Raonic.

Currently ranked 13th globally, Auger-Aliassime has seen a slight dip in rankings from his sixth position in November 2022.
