Lawyers representing music icon Sean (Diddy) Combs petitioned a judge on Monday to limit his prison sentence to a maximum of 14 months following his conviction on two prostitution-related charges. This request implies that Combs could be released promptly if the judge accepts the plea.
In a formal submission, Combs’s legal counsel argued that he has already faced significant repercussions. They emphasized that Combs’s renowned status in music, fashion, spirits, media, and finance has been tarnished, leading to the decimation of his legacy. The defense team addressed Judge Arun Subramanian, who is slated to deliver the sentence for the former hip-hop tycoon on October 3.
Furthermore, the legal documentation shed light on Combs’s experiences during his nearly 13-month incarceration, detailing constant surveillance by guards and an incident involving a threat of violence.
Combs was found guilty in July on two counts of violating the Mann Act, which prohibits interstate transactions linked to prostitution. Prosecutors alleged that he arranged paid sexual encounters between his girlfriends and male sex workers. Each offense carries a maximum 10-year imprisonment term.
