Canada’s hit gay hockey drama, “Heated Rivalry,” has been confirmed for a second season. Bell Media announced that the series, which follows the clandestine love affair between two male hockey players, will be back on Crave and HBO Max for more episodes.
The show, created by Jacob Tierney, has gained immense popularity recently, largely due to viral clips of its more provocative scenes circulating on TikTok and other social media platforms. Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie play the lead roles of NHL rivals Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov, who discover a deep romantic connection off the ice.
Despite not disclosing specific viewership numbers, Crave revealed that the steamy adaptation of Rachel Reid’s “Game Changers” book series was its top-performing original series debut in the first week. The first season will conclude on December 26, with plans for the upcoming season yet to be revealed.
International distribution agreements for “Heated Rivalry” have been inked with Sky in New Zealand and Movistar Plus+ in Spain. HBO Max will carry the show in various Asian regions, such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, and the Philippines, with additional agreements for the United Kingdom and other territories on the horizon.
