Ontario Allocates $75 Million for Anti-Tariff Ad Campaign Targeting Republican Audience in the U.S.

Ontario has committed $75 million towards a new advertising campaign in the United States that aims to sway Republican voters against tariffs. The ad features a recording of former U.S. president Ronald Reagan from 1987, emphasizing the ineffectiveness of tariffs in the long run.

Premier Doug Ford, a self-professed admirer of Reagan, believes that the recognizable voice of the former president will resonate with Republicans, conveying the message that tariffs could ultimately harm Americans. The premier’s office has announced that the ad will debut on Newsmax and Bloomberg this week.

In the following two weeks, the ad will expand its reach to include prominent channels such as Fox News, Fox Sports, NBC, CBS, CNBC, ESPN, and ABC, as well as their local affiliates. Furthermore, it will be broadcasted on local stations owned by Comcast, Spectrum, and Sinclair Group.

This initiative is not the first of its kind by the Ontario government, which previously aired anti-tariff ads in the U.S., emphasizing the enduring relationship between Canada, Ontario, and the United States.
