Prime Minister Mark Carney is embarking on a nine-day journey to Malaysia, Singapore, and South Korea at the end of the month to participate in two international summits. Carney’s agenda includes attending the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit in Kuala Lumpur, where he will engage in discussions on trade with Malaysia’s prime minister. Following this summit, Carney will meet with Singapore’s prime minister and regional business leaders to explore ways to eliminate trade barriers and attract global capital. In South Korea, Carney will participate in a gathering of Asia-Pacific economic leaders in Gyeongju. He also plans to visit the shipyard run by Hanwha Ocean while in South Korea, a finalist for a contract to construct new Canadian submarines. Carney’s journey through Asia is scheduled from October 24 to November 1.
