Russell Brand Pleads Not Guilty to New Rape Charges

British comedian Russell Brand has entered a plea of not guilty to fresh charges of rape and sexual assault, in addition to existing accusations involving four women. The Crown Prosecution Service revealed that the alleged incidents date back to 2009. Earlier in April, Brand, aged 50, was charged with two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of indecent assault, spanning between 1999 and 2005. The charges involve four women, with one incident in Bournemouth and three in London. Brand previously denied these charges in a London court this year.

A trial is set for June and is anticipated to run for four to five weeks. A hearing is scheduled for the following month to determine if the new allegations will be combined with the ongoing case, with Brand’s lawyer stating that more time is needed to address the recent offenses.

Brand, donned in a white cowboy hat and sunglasses, arrived at court on Tuesday. When asked about his feelings, the comedian, who disclosed his conversion to Christianity in 2024, expressed feeling “blessed.”

During the 2000s, Brand was a familiar face on British television, known for his flamboyant style and work as a BBC radio presenter. The actor of “Get Him To The Greek” fame, recognized for his daring stand-up acts, has faced struggles with substance abuse, leading to his retreat from mainstream media in recent times. He has since amassed a substantial online following through content blending wellness advice, conspiracy theories, and discussions on his religious beliefs.
