Hyundai Issues Caution for 2026 Palisade Seatbelt System

Must read

Hyundai has issued a caution regarding the seatbelt system on certain 2026 Palisade models. A notice on Transport Canada’s Motor Vehicle Safety Recalls Database highlights that the wiring in the seatbelt for the third-row, left-hand side seat could sustain damage when pulled, leading to a malfunction where the seatbelt indicator erroneously shows the seatbelt as fastened even when it is not.

This issue poses a risk as an inaccurate seatbelt status indicator may cause confusion and increase the likelihood of injury in the event of a crash. Approximately 4,203 vehicles in Canada could be impacted by this seatbelt concern. Hyundai plans to inform affected drivers in writing about the problem and recommend a visit to a dealership for the necessary seatbelt wiring repair.

Alternatively, drivers can check if their vehicle is affected by entering their vehicle identification number on Hyundai’s online recall lookup website or by contacting 1-888-216-2626. Earlier this year, Hyundai recalled numerous vehicles in the U.S. and Canada, halting sales of specific Palisade models due to a separate issue involving the malfunction of second and third-row power seats failing to stop movement upon detecting contact with a passenger or object. This recall was prompted by a tragic incident in Ohio where a two-year-old child lost their life.
