A woman from Florida has been charged with attempted murder and other serious offenses after allegedly firing gunshots at Rihanna’s residence in Los Angeles. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon outside the singer’s gated home in Beverly Hills. The accused, Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, faces multiple felony charges, including 10 counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm.
According to District Attorney Nathan Hochman, Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, their three young children, and Rihanna’s mother were present on the property at the time of the shooting. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Ortiz appeared in the Superior Court of Los Angeles County before Judge Theresa McGonigle, where her attorney initially entered a plea of not guilty but later opted to postpone the arraignment until March 25. She is being held on $1.8 million US bail.
Ortiz has been issued a protective order to stay away from Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and their residence. Additionally, she is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Los Angeles police revealed that there were ten individuals at Rihanna’s home when the shots were fired. It is believed that Ortiz traveled from Florida to the area, although the exact timeline remains unclear.
Ortiz, a licensed speech pathologist with a recent address in Orlando, was arrested following the shooting, and a weapon was recovered. Authorities have not disclosed any connection between Ortiz and Rihanna. Requests for comments from various parties involved in the incident have not been answered as of Tuesday.
Visual evidence provided by KABC-TV showed apparent bullet holes in Rihanna’s home, with police dispatch audio indicating that ten shots were discharged. Rihanna, a nine-time Grammy Award winner known for hits like “We Found Love” and “Umbrella,” also co-founded Fenty Beauty in 2017. She and A$AP Rocky welcomed their third child, Rocki Irish Mayers, in September 2025.
