Vancouver’s Professional Women’s Hockey League franchise has officially inked deals with their draft selections Nina Jobst-Smith, Brianna Brooks, and Madison Samoskevich, the team disclosed on Tuesday. Jobst-Smith, hailing from North Vancouver, B.C., was chosen in the third round, 19th overall, during the 2025 PWHL Draft. The 24-year-old defenseman captained the University of Minnesota-Duluth, accumulating 18 points (three goals, 15 assists) in 37 games in the 2024-25 season, and securing a spot on the All-WCHA Second Team.
Brooks, a 23-year-old from Whitby, Ont., was the fourth-round pick (32nd overall) from Penn State. She achieved a career-high of 32 points with the Nittany Lions and was honored with a spot on the All-CHA Second Team in the 2023-24 season. Samoskevich, chosen in the fifth round (39th overall), amassed a total of 84 points (19 goals, 65 assists) across 168 games at Quinnipiac University. The 22-year-old from Sandy Hook, Conn., transitioned from defense to forward during her final NCAA season.
Jobst-Smith secured a two-year contract, while Brooks and Samoskevich signed one-year deals. Vancouver and Seattle are set to expand the PWHL for the upcoming 2025-26 season.
