Famous writer Freida McFadden has surprised her fans by revealing that her true identity is Sara Cohen. In a recent interview with USA Today, Cohen expressed her desire to no longer keep her real name a secret, emphasizing that she is indeed a genuine individual and not a fabricated persona.
Cohen, known for her gripping psychological thrillers such as “The Housemaid” and “Never Lie,” has always maintained a level of anonymity in her public appearances, often donning a brown wig and glasses to shield her true identity. She admitted that her choice of wearing a wig is simply due to her lack of hairstyling skills.
Beyond her literary success, Cohen works as a doctor specializing in brain disorders. She disclosed that she had kept her true identity concealed to prevent any potential conflicts with her medical career, but eventually decided to come forward as she transitioned away from full-time medical practice in 2023.
Despite unveiling her real name, Cohen intends to continue publishing under her well-known pen name, emphasizing that her authenticity and dedication to her readers remain unchanged. Her debut novel was released in 2013, and her breakout hit, “The Housemaid,” led to immense popularity and a subsequent film adaptation starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. Following her literary triumphs, Cohen’s next adaptation, “The Housemaid’s Secret,” is scheduled for a 2027 release, with Kirsten Dunst rumored to join the cast alongside Sweeney.
