“Hundreds of Hyundai Elantra Hybrids Recalled for Fire Hazards”

Must read

Hyundai Canada has initiated a safety recall for select Elantra Hybrid vehicles manufactured between 2024 and 2026 over concerns of potential fire hazards. The recall affects 6,082 cars in Canada, as confirmed by Hyundai officials. Despite this issue, there have been no reported incidents, injuries, or fatalities associated with this issue in Canada, stated Hyundai spokesperson Nitish Bissonauth in correspondence with CBC News.

In the United States, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has recalled 54,337 vehicles for the same issue. Hyundai has identified a problem with the hybrid power control unit in certain vehicles that could result in overheating. The NHTSA warns that this issue may cause a “no start” situation or a decrease in power output in most instances, potentially leading to overheating and an increased fire risk.

Hyundai has assured that it will notify all affected vehicle owners and will conduct a complimentary software update to rectify the overheating concern.
