Following closely behind is Puerto Rican sensation Bad Bunny, who dethroned Swift in 2025 as the most played artist of the year, after holding the title for the fourth time. The two artists have been in a back-and-forth competition, with Swift reigning supreme in the previous two years and Bad Bunny dominating from 2020 to 2023.
Spotify’s rankings also include Drake in third place, followed by The Weeknd, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish, Eminem, Kanye West, Travis Scott, BTS, Post Malone, Bruno Mars, J Balvin, Rihanna, Coldplay, Kendrick Lamar, Future, and Juice WRLD, in that order. When questioned about their data collection methods, Spotify did not disclose any details.
In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Spotify has compiled lists of its most streamed albums, songs, podcasts, and audiobooks. Streaming plays a significant role in the music industry, accounting for 82% of revenue in the U.S., according to the Recording Industry Association of America. Spotify, founded in April 2006 in Sweden, holds the largest market share at over 31%, boasting 751 million users and 290 million subscribers across 184 markets.
The top albums on Spotify’s all-time streaming list include Bad Bunny’s “Un Verano Sin Ti,” The Weeknd’s “Starboy,” Ed Sheeran’s “÷ (Deluxe),” Olivia Rodrigo’s “SOUR,” and others. Meanwhile, the most streamed songs of all time on the platform feature tracks like The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You,” and The Neighbourhood’s “Sweater Weather.” These rankings reflect Spotify’s impact on the music industry and popular culture over the past two decades.
