First baseman Josh Naylor has officially signed a lucrative five-year, $92.5 million contract with the Seattle Mariners. The deal includes a $6.5 million signing bonus to be paid within 120 days of approval by the commissioner’s office. Naylor’s annual salaries under the contract are set at $10 million for the upcoming season, $16 million in 2027, $18 million in 2028, $20 million in 2029, and $22 million in 2030. Additionally, he holds a full no-trade clause, giving him the authority to veto any potential trades to other teams.

The 28-year-old, hailing from Mississauga, Ont., entered free agency after the Mariners’ defeat to the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Championship Series. Following the conclusion of the season, Mariners’ president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto emphasized the significance of retaining Naylor, whom they had acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks. Dipoto described Naylor as a key asset to the team, highlighting his intelligence, intensity, toughness, and competitive spirit.

Seattle’s commitment to Naylor marks the third-largest contract in the team’s history, trailing only the deals for second baseman Robinson Cano and pitcher Robbie Ray. Manager Dan Wilson praised Naylor’s impact on the Mariners, both on and off the field, during his brief yet influential tenure with the franchise.

During his 54-game stint with the Mariners, Naylor boasted impressive statistics, hitting .299 with nine home runs, 33 RBIs, and 19 stolen bases. In the postseason, he maintained a strong performance, batting .340 with three home runs, five RBIs, and two stolen bases across 12 games. Throughout the season, Naylor recorded a .295 batting average alongside 20 home runs, 92 RBIs, and a career-best 30 stolen bases.

Expressing his excitement, Naylor stated, “I’m thrilled to continue my journey as a Mariner. The warm welcome and support I received from the organization, teammates, and fans have been truly remarkable. Seattle’s fanbase is unparalleled in its passion and loyalty, and I am grateful for their unwavering support. I look forward to contributing to the team’s pursuit of a championship alongside my teammates.”
