“Trump’s Address Interrupts Survivor Merge Episode”

The Survivor tribe has voiced their discontent as CBS unexpectedly cut short the show’s extended merge episode to broadcast U.S. President Donald Trump’s address on the Iran conflict. The interruption occurred around 9 p.m. ET, disrupting a crucial segment of the episode and sparking frustration among loyal viewers.

Expressing their exasperation online, fans lamented the untimely halt caused by the presidential announcement. Some viewers humorously suggested that Trump should tune into Survivor to avoid such interruptions in the future.

Across the border, Global TV, the Canadian network airing the show concurrently, opted for a surprise move by airing a rerun of Border Security: Canada’s Front Line instead of Trump’s speech. This decision left some viewers puzzled, questioning the programming shift.

The current season of Survivor, featuring 24 returning contestants, including Canadians Genevieve Mushaluk and Kamilla Karthigesu, witnessed a dramatic triple elimination during the latest episode. The season finale is scheduled for May 20, following this unexpected twist.

This isn’t the first time Survivor has been disrupted by a presidential address. During the previous season’s finale in December, viewers had to endure a similar pause for a presidential announcement before the ultimate champion was crowned.

CBS had preplanned the interruption on Wednesday, ensuring that the episode would resume immediately after Trump’s address for viewers in the Eastern and Central time zones. West Coast fans were fortunate to enjoy an uninterrupted broadcast.

In addition to Survivor fans, enthusiasts of other popular shows like Chicago Fire and The Masked Singer also experienced disruptions to accommodate the president’s speech. Interestingly, the executive producer of Survivor, Mark Burnett, has a notable connection to Trump through their collaboration on The Apprentice.
