Justin Bieber broke a new record at the American Music Awards, becoming the first artist to win the best male pop artist category five times. Originally from Stratford, Ontario, Bieber had previously won the award four times, starting in 2010 when it was known as favorite pop/rock male artist.
At this year’s awards ceremony in Las Vegas, Bieber was nominated for four awards, including artist of the year and album of the year for his album “Swag” released last year. With this latest win, Bieber now has a total of 19 American Music Awards, tying him with the late Kenny Rogers for the second-most wins by a male artist. Michael Jackson holds the record for the most wins among male artists with 24 awards.
Justin Bieber made a return to the stage last month at Coachella, his first major performance since canceling a tour in 2022 due to health issues related to Ramsay Hunt syndrome. Other notable winners at the awards ceremony included BTS, who won artist of the year, and Sabrina Carpenter, who took home album of the year.
