A California court rejected rapper Tory Lanez’s appeal of his guilty verdict for shooting at Megan Thee Stallion. The California 2nd District Court of Appeal upheld the 32-year-old Canadian’s conviction on three felony charges without providing detailed reasoning.

In December 2022, Lanez was found guilty of assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possessing a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and recklessly discharging a firearm. Megan testified that after leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s home in July 2020, Lanez shot at her feet and demanded she dance as she walked away from their shared SUV.

Following the incident, Megan had surgery to remove bullet fragments from both feet and publicly identified Lanez as the shooter months later. Lanez, also known as Daystar Peterson, is currently serving a 10-year sentence at California Men’s Colony near San Luis Obispo after being transferred from California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi due to a stabbing incident with another inmate.

Lanez started his music career in 2009 with mixtapes and progressed to successful major label albums that achieved top 10 rankings on Billboard’s charts. Lanez’s legal representatives did not respond immediately to requests for comments on the recent court ruling. They retain the option to appeal to the California Supreme Court. Megan’s spokesperson did not provide an immediate response to inquiries.
