A former employee of Beast Industries has filed a lawsuit against MrBeast’s media production company, alleging that she was terminated from her role as a social media manager after returning from maternity leave. The lawsuit, brought by Lorrayne Mavromatis in federal court in North Carolina, claims that the company violated federal laws regarding job-protected leave for family and medical reasons, including childbirth.
Mavromatis also lodged a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, citing discrimination based on sex, pregnancy, and retaliation. She asserted that she worked tirelessly post-childbirth, even attending to work matters while still in the delivery room. Mavromatis stated that she was let go less than three weeks after resuming full-time work.
A spokesperson for Beast Industries dismissed the lawsuit as a “clout-chasing complaint” containing “deliberate misrepresentations and categorically false statements.” The company explained that Mavromatis’ role was eliminated during a team reorganization led by the new head of ecommerce.
The lawsuit sheds light on troubling allegations about the workplace culture at MrBeast’s media company, as it undergoes expansion efforts into television and finance.
