The actors from the popular series “Heated Rivalry” have taken a stand against negative behavior exhibited by some of their fans. Hudson Williams and Francois Arnaud, who play key roles in the show, both shared a message on their Instagram profiles condemning any form of hateful or disrespectful comments. Their co-stars, including Ksenia Daniela Kharlamova, Robbie G. K., Sophie Nelisse, Harrison Browne, and Christina Chang, also reposted the message.
Harrison Browne, who is transgender, specifically highlighted the issue of transphobic comments directed at him and shared examples of negative remarks about his casting. The author of the original books, Rachel Reid, and the director, Jacob Tierney, also endorsed the message.
The series has propelled its stars into the limelight, attracting a fanbase that has unfortunately shown signs of toxicity at times. Speculation surrounding the sexuality of Williams and his co-star, Connor Storrie, has sparked controversy. Storrie emphasized that portraying a character fans can relate to is more significant than his personal life.
Despite recent news about Williams having a girlfriend, he has faced accusations of queerbaiting from certain individuals. Furthermore, both racial slurs and attacks on his appearance have been directed at him. Recent photos of Storrie and Arnaud together in public led to assumptions about their relationship, resulting in backlash, especially towards Arnaud.
Arnaud revealed earlier this year that he had been forced to block certain apps and stop reading comments due to the hateful remarks from some fans. Director Jacob Tierney also expressed concerns about the toxic segment of the fanbase that engages in insulting behavior towards the actors.
Similar instances of actors and shows addressing negative fan behavior have been observed, such as with “The Summer I Turned Pretty” and “Love Island USA.” These incidents highlight the importance of maintaining respectful and kind interactions within fan communities to ensure a positive environment for everyone involved.
