Chuck Norris, the renowned martial arts expert and iconic action star best known for his role in “Walker, Texas Ranger,” passed away at the age of 86 in a sudden event, as confirmed by his family. The family released a statement on Friday announcing the unexpected demise of Chuck Norris, emphasizing that he was surrounded by loved ones and found peace in his final moments.
Before gaining fame in the entertainment industry, Chuck Norris excelled in competitive martial arts, becoming a six-time undefeated World Professional Middleweight Karate champion. Additionally, he established his own form of Korean-based American karate called chun kuk do and founded the United Fighting Arts Federation, which has granted over 3,300 Chuck Norris System black belts globally. Recognized for his exceptional skills, Norris was honored with a 10th-degree black belt by Black Belt magazine, the highest accolade in the field.
Originally named Carlos Ray Norris, he was born on March 10, 1940, in Ryan, Oklahoma, and later relocated to Torrance, California, during his childhood. After serving in the U.S. air force following high school, Norris began his martial arts training during a deployment to Korea, where he explored disciplines like judo and tang soo do.
Transitioning into acting, Norris made his film debut in the 1968 movie “The Wrecking Crew” and notably shared a memorable showdown with Bruce Lee in the 1972 film “Return of the Dragon.” His acting career flourished with appearances in over 20 films such as “Missing in Action,” “The Delta Force,” and “Sidekicks.”
In 1993, Norris achieved widespread acclaim for his portrayal of a crime-fighting lawman in the TV series “Walker, Texas Ranger,” which ran for nine seasons. He later received the honorary title of Texas Ranger from then-governor Rick Perry and was named an honorary Texan by the Texas Senate.
Beyond his acting endeavors, Norris embraced his tough-guy image, which led to the popularization of “Chuck Norris Facts” circulating online, showcasing exaggerated statements highlighting his legendary persona. He also authored several books on martial arts, memoirs, and historical fiction, using his platform to promote causes like martial arts education for children.
Chuck Norris, a staunch advocate of Christian beliefs and gun rights, was actively involved in endorsing political candidates over the years, including his public support for former President Donald Trump. Survived by five children from different relationships, Norris maintained an enduring legacy in both the entertainment industry and martial arts community.
Just days before his passing, Norris celebrated his birthday by sharing a sparring video on social media, leaving behind a lasting impact on his fans and admirers.
