The increasing importance of software and data-driven services in long-term strategies of automotive companies is evident, particularly as Chinese automakers ramp up efforts to attract customers both locally and internationally. Stellantis’ Chief Engineering and Technology Officer, Ned Curic, emphasized the significance of the collaboration with Microsoft in advancing AI initiatives throughout the company. While specific financial details of the partnership were not disclosed, the focus is on co-developing over 100 AI projects at Stellantis to enhance personalized driver experiences.

The partnership also aims to strengthen Stellantis’ global cyber defense center using AI-driven analytics to safeguard against cyber threats and secure vehicles, customer data, and operations worldwide. Additionally, joint efforts will focus on accelerating the modernization of Stellantis’ IT infrastructure on Microsoft’s Azure cloud platform, with a target of reducing data center footprint by 60% by 2029.
