Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have reached an agreement to resolve their legal dispute concerning their 2024 movie “It Ends With Us.” The Hollywood actors settled their lawsuit just before the trial was scheduled to start in New York. Lively had accused Baldoni of collaborating with publicists to damage her reputation after she privately accused him of sexual harassment during the film’s production.

In a joint statement released through their attorneys, Lively and Baldoni expressed their commitment to raising awareness and supporting survivors of domestic violence. The terms of the settlement were not made public.

The legal battle, which began when Lively sued Baldoni and his production company at the end of 2024, escalated with Baldoni countersuing Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist for defamation and extortion. Baldoni, who directed and starred in the movie alongside Lively, denied the harassment allegations, claiming they were fabricated to gain control of the film.

The settlement allows both parties to avoid a potentially damaging trial and highlights the importance of creating safe work environments. Despite the controversy, “It Ends With Us” was well-received upon its release in August 2024, exceeding box office expectations. Lively and Baldoni emphasized the film’s message of raising awareness about domestic violence survivors in their joint statement.

During the legal proceedings, Lively accused Baldoni of making inappropriate comments, violating boundaries, and pressuring her for nudity on set, allegations that Baldoni refuted as part of the creative filmmaking process. The judge dismissed some of the claims from both sides before the settlement was reached.

The resolution of the dispute signifies a step towards closure for both parties and a renewed focus on their artistic endeavors. Lively, known for her roles in “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” and “Gossip Girl,” and Baldoni, recognized for his work in “Jane the Virgin” and “Five Feet Apart,” can now move forward from this chapter in their careers.
