South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker have reaffirmed their commitment to satirizing U.S. President Trump in the upcoming season of their award-winning show. In a recent video spot for the 19th Television Academy Honors, the duo defended their decision to mock Trump’s presidency, stating that South Park has historically served as America’s court jester, a role they believe Trump is now assuming.
Parker emphasized the show’s enduring defiance against censorship, noting that various groups have attempted to dictate what can and cannot be said over the show’s 30-year history. Stone added that their portrayal of Trump as the villain in the previous season aimed to assert their creative identity and provoke reactions, regardless of approval or criticism.
The latest season, which premiered in 2025 after a two-year hiatus, featured a Trump-Satan relationship reminiscent of their portrayal of Saddam Hussein in the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. The season also targeted other political figures, including Vice-President JD Vance, former Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, and former Attorney General Pam Bondi, drawing mixed responses from those lampooned.
While the White House expressed disapproval of the show’s content, Stone and Parker remain undeterred, expressing a resolve to continue pushing boundaries and creating content that they find humorous and impactful. Parker emphasized the importance of fearlessness in their work, stating that they will not be swayed by external pressures and will continue to prioritize creativity and humor in their storytelling.
In light of potential backlash, Parker humorously mentioned being prepared to face any consequences, while Stone joked about having alternative residences if needed.
