Renowned for his performances in television series like “The Wire” and “Luther,” Elba received the knighthood for his dedication to supporting young people. Together with his wife, he established the Elba Hope Foundation in 2022, aiming to foster sustainable development in the U.K., U.S., and Africa, enhance opportunities for youth, and provide assistance for community empowerment and education initiatives.
Additionally, Elba serves as a goodwill ambassador for The King’s Trust, a charitable organization established by King Charles to aid disadvantaged young individuals. The multi-talented artist, musician, and activist, who is a devoted fan of Arsenal soccer club, shared a video on social media celebrating his knighthood by showcasing a personalized Arsenal jersey bearing the title “SIR ELBA.”
Elba and King Charles are collaborating on a forthcoming Netflix documentary commemorating the 50th anniversary of The King’s Trust, which was founded in 1976 and set to be released in the autumn. Elba’s journey in the arts commenced with support from The Prince’s Trust, where at the age of 18, he received a grant to attend the National Youth Music Theatre, kickstarting his acting career.
