Author Rachel Reid has announced a delay in the release of her upcoming hockey romance novel, “Unrivaled,” due to the challenges of managing newfound fame and the progression of her Parkinson’s disease symptoms. Originally scheduled for this fall, the book is now expected to hit shelves in June 2027, as revealed in a recent Instagram video message.
“Unrivaled” will mark the seventh installment in Reid’s popular “Game Changer” series, focusing on the intertwined lives of hockey rivals and secret lovers Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. The series, which kicked off with “Heated Rivalry” and “The Long Game,” has served as the inspiration for the successful Crave original series starring Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, catapulting Reid into the limelight as a prominent figure in the publishing world.
In her Instagram post, Reid expressed her commitment to delivering a top-notch book, stating, “My recent life changes have significantly impacted my writing time, and my priority is ensuring that ‘Unrivaled’ lives up to its full potential.”
Acknowledging the ups and downs that come with success, Reid shared that her battle with Parkinson’s has intensified in recent months, slowing down her writing process. She disclosed that her diagnosis coincided with director Jacob Tierney expressing interest in adapting her literary works back in 2023.
Tierney’s adaptation of Reid’s novels has garnered widespread acclaim, earning a renewal for a second season on Crave and HBO Max, where it quickly became a fan favorite. The series’ success has further solidified Reid’s position as a leading voice in the romance genre.
As fans eagerly await the release of “Unrivaled,” Reid’s dedication to her craft and resilience in the face of personal challenges continue to inspire and captivate audiences worldwide.
