“Chappell Roan Responds to Allegations by Jorginho”

Grammy award-winning artist Chappell Roan has responded to allegations made by Brazilian-Italian footballer Jorginho regarding an incident where a security guard reportedly mistreated his 11-year-old stepdaughter after she recognized the singer. Jorginho, known as Jorginho Frello, revealed that his wife and stepdaughter were staying at the same hotel in Sao Paulo as Roan, who is in Brazil for the Lollapalooza music festival.

According to Jorginho’s Instagram post in both Portuguese and English, his daughter, the offspring of Catherine Harding and actor Jude Law, simply recognized Roan during breakfast and wanted to confirm her identity. Jorginho mentioned that without saying or asking for anything, a security guard approached their table and spoke aggressively towards his family.

Roan, in response, clarified on Instagram that the security guard was not under her control and that she was unaware of the woman and child in question. Expressing disappointment over the incident, Roan emphasized that it was unjust for security personnel to presume ill intentions, stating that she harbors no animosity towards her fans, especially children.

The controversy caught the attention of Rio’s newly elected mayor, Eduardo Cavaliere, who remarked that during his term, Roan would not perform on Copacabana Beach like other international artists. Cavaliere also mentioned that Jorginho’s daughter would be a special guest at Shakira’s upcoming concert on Rio’s expansive beaches.

Roan, an openly queer artist known for her drag culture influences, gained popularity in 2024 with hit songs like “Good Luck, Babe!,” “Red Wine Supernova,” and “Hot To Go!” from her album “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.” She clinched the Grammy for best new artist earlier this year, beating out Sabrina Carpenter.

Following the social media discussions, Jorginho shared a heartwarming story of his daughter’s excitement upon attending Carpenter’s show at Lollapalooza, reassuring everyone that all was well with the girls.
