“Surprise Moose Sighting in Alberta Flower Bed”

Must read

April Ellingham was surprised to spot a large moose in her flower bed in Grande Prairie, Alta. Initially mistaking it for a rabbit, she soon realized the massive animal was peacefully resting among her flowers. Despite attempts by Alberta Fish and Wildlife officers to coax the moose away, it seemed content to linger in the neighborhood.

Ellingham, a resident of the quiet northern Alberta city, is accustomed to seeing deer but not moose in her area. The moose, later dubbed Roberta by Ellingham after discovering it was a female, attracted attention from neighbors who stopped by to catch a glimpse and take photos.

Moose sightings in urban areas can occur as they search for food or seek shelter from predators. While typically non-aggressive, moose can act defensively if they feel threatened. Wildlife officials advise against approaching or provoking moose and recommend giving them space to move away safely.

Despite Roberta eventually leaving Ellingham’s property, there remains a possibility of her returning for another visit. Authorities emphasize the importance of contacting wildlife officials if a moose refuses to leave or poses a safety risk.
