Tegan Quin, half of the pop-indie duo Tegan and Sara, has contributed to the Marvel Comics pride special one-shot, “Wiccan & Hulkling: Raid of Ultron #1,” set to be released on May 27. This comic showcases the beloved gay couple Wiccan and Hulkling and their families, emphasizing the significance of community and connections during challenging times. Quin’s narrative, brought to life by illustrator Luciano Vecchio, revolves around twins Wiccan and Speed as they unite to combat Ultron while navigating their distinct paths as siblings.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the project, Quin stated on Marvel’s website, “As a twin myself, I truly can’t think of two characters in the Marvel Universe I would have been more excited to write than Wiccan and Speed.” She added, “Making my Marvel debut with this story isn’t just a thrill, it feels downright magical. And let’s just say Ultrons aren’t that different from certain folks I’ve encountered in the record industry over the years, so spending a few pages crushing one into oblivion was deeply cathartic.”
Apart from Quin, the “Wiccan & Hulkling” comic will also feature contributions from writers Wyatt Kennedy, Josh Trujillo, and Zoe Tunnell, along with artists Rachael Stott, Bradley Clayton, and Stephen Byrne. Based in Vancouver, Quin is also advocating for Loghan Paylor’s novel, “The Cure for Drowning,” on Canada Reads 2026.
Canada Reads is an event where five Canadian celebrities select one book for the nation to read. They engage in debates over four days, voting to eliminate one book daily until a winner is determined. This year’s Canada Reads will take place from April 13 to 16.
Throughout her career, Tegan Quin, alongside her sister, has launched 10 studio albums, featuring popular tracks like “Closer,” “Where Does The Good Go,” and “Walking with A Ghost.” The duo has sold over a million records and received accolades such as Juno and GLAAD awards, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, and nominations for the Polaris Music Prize and the Grammy Awards.
In 2019, the twins transitioned their writing talents from songs to literature with their joint memoir, “High School,” and the middle-grade graphic novel duology, “Tegan & Sara: Junior High,” illustrated by Tillie Walden. Additionally, they established the Tegan and Sara Foundation to provide support and investment in 2SLGBTQ+ communities, leading to them being honored with the Humanitarian Award at the 2024 Junos.
