The Tragically Hip has announced a special broadcast of their final Man Machine Poem concert from 2016 on CBC this summer, giving Canadians a chance to relive the event after a decade.

Scheduled for August 22, fans can tune in to watch The Tragically Hip: A National Celebration concert at 7 p.m. local time (8 p.m. AT/ 8:30 NT) on CBC TV and CBC Gem. The broadcast will also be available on CBC Radio One (7 p.m. local time, 7:30 NT/AT) and CBC Music (7:30 NT). Additionally, fans can catch the concert at 7 p.m. ET on CBC Music’s YouTube channel and SiriusXM’s CBC, The Tragically Hip, Iceberg, and Canada Talks channels.

Communities have the opportunity to organize public screenings to ensure all fans can participate in the event by signing up through a designated link.

The original concert, held in Kingston, Ont., on August 20, 2016, was watched by 11.7 million viewers on CBC. It marked the band’s final tour before the passing of lead singer Gord Downie on October 17, 2017, due to brain cancer.

In honor of the concert, The Tragically Hip will release a new live album on August 21 titled The Tragically Hip: Live July 22 – August 20, 2016, featuring live recordings of popular songs like Ahead By a Century and New Orleans is Sinking from their last nationwide tour. Live versions of Fifty-Mission Cap from Edmonton and Locked In The Trunk Of A Car from the final Kingston show are already available.

Looking ahead, the band is set to be inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in September at Toronto’s Massey Hall.
