The Rolling Stones have confirmed the upcoming release of their new album, “Foreign Tongues,” on July 10. Alongside this announcement, the band also unveiled a new single titled “In The Stars.”
To mark the occasion, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood will be present at an album launch event in Brooklyn later today. Their previous album, “Hackney Diamonds,” was released in 2023, marking their first collection of original songs in 18 years since “A Bigger Bang” in 2005. This album also holds significance as it was their first full-length release following the passing of drummer Charlie Watts in 2021, who posthumously contributed to two tracks on the album.
“Foreign Tongues” is set to feature a special appearance by Watts from one of his final recording sessions, along with contributions from musicians like Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, Robert Smith of The Cure, and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Mick Jagger expressed his enthusiasm for the recording process at Metropolis in London, stating, “It was a very intense few weeks recording ‘Foreign Tongues.’ We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone.”
The production of the album involved collaboration with Andrew Watt, an Oscar-winning pop producer known for his work with artists like Post Malone and Justin Bieber, continuing a partnership that began with “Hackey Diamonds.”
Leading up to the announcement, hints and teasers were strategically released, including posters under the band name “The Cockroaches,” billboards featuring the album title in different languages, and cryptic video clips on the band’s website. Fans were also treated to a slide puzzle graphic revealing the official album cover and a brief video clip teasing a new song.
The anticipation for “Foreign Tongues” has been steadily building, and with its impending release, fans can look forward to a fresh musical offering from the iconic rock band.
